The safety and efficacy of trazodone and quetiapine as medications for nighttime awakenings versus those receiving quetiapine (0.52 vs 0.75, the prevalence of insomnia was as high as 69% in primary care patients (Seroquel), trazodone (Oleptro and others), zolpidem (Ambien, Edluar, and others).
The study procedures were performed in accordance with the ethical standards of the Declaration of Helsinki, and the protocol was approved by the Touro University Institutional Review Board (Vallejo, California). Patient involvement in the study was voluntary, and patients could withdraw from the study at any time without prejudice or penalty. Only researchers identified in the institutional review board proposal had full access to the data, and all researchers completed a National Institutes of Health human subjects training program.
Hi, I was wondering how many people take Seroquel or Seroquel XR for insomnia. His reason for this is that you have to get to VERY high doses before only choices are the "true" sleep aid meds like Ambien and Sonesta.

--it is an atypical antipsychcotic, regardless of the dose----not a sleeping pill that happens to be sedating at low dosages.
150 mg of IR, and 300 mg of XR in the morning to round it out to a mood stabilization dose. XR at night would just prevent me from getting out of bed in the morning and it wouldn't have enough kick to put me out.

It's a sedative at low doses.
Hope this helps you out---I know that insomnia is a bear and can make you desperate for a good nights sleep---just use your better judgement, know that there are potential side effects, and always follow your doctor's advice----- Awaiting the flames.
I did know of quite a few people in the hospital who were being prescribed it for sleep, almost everyone there was on some kind of anti-psychotic but mainly for sleep.
A high dose gets you all of the TV DINNER and receptors blocked (and. Ambien didn't help at all, it just made me more tired physically and wiped my memory. and possibly some dopamine dominance vs serotonin suppression thing. 25mg Seroquel or 25mg of benadryl or 5mg of Zyprexa, and so on.
Good quality and a great price from mbt shoes online.
Don't get so worked up over something so silly, silly.
The only thing that seems to help me sleep is 15-20mgs Valium along with 1000mgs Tegretol, but even the Valium stops working after a while.so I went off it once again and have been trying to find something else.very frustrating.
Seroquel (Quetiapine) is an atypical antipsychotic medication include: Z-drugs (Ambien, Lunesta, Rozerem), antidepressants (e.g. result in as much extra “baggage” as taking high doses for schizophrenia, Seroquel vs.
Withdrawal : Taking low doses of the drug for the purpose of treating insomnia can still result in discontinuation effects. The Seroquel withdrawal symptoms are often considered difficult to cope with, and include both nausea and insomnia. The irony is that your insomnia during withdrawal may be even worse than prior to your first dose of the drug.
Side effects : Due to the fact that this is a potent antipsychotic, you’re likely going to experience some side effects, even when taken at a low dose.
As you build a tolerance to Seroquel the sedation disappears.. It does seem to me that is an awfully high dose to start out on.. Yeah moral of the story is don't eat ambien and LSD together, and if you do be prepared for.

Not unheard of interestingly enough, apparently it's also the most requested prescription drug in prisons too because they have a hard time getting scripts for benzos in there.
I think I read somewhere that it's akin to alcohol in prisons because of its sedating and numbing effects. They call it Suzie-Q haha or maybe it was just on one of those stupid 'Locked Up' shows that makes everything up.
OP, how bad are your withdrawals? I was taken off it cold turkey and experienced shakes, chills and insomnia that lasted about a week or two.

The DSM was made by a room full of psychiatrists who would shout out names of "disorders" and if they were agreed upon they went in the book.
